I think the hardware is most important. But it never hurts to have both. This is why im an XBOX guy.

Thoughts.

hardware. .unless the software selection far outweighs the competing system

right now it's debatable

when PS3 comes out, it wont be. They have the superior launch titles and hardware.

333Mhz vs. 730Mhz or whatever it is may seem to be a big gap.

And the XBOX is definatly superior in terms of hardware. BUT, the game selection for the PS2 makes it a difficult descion for the consumer.

I don't really care much for Xbox. Never liked it. I'm a PS2 fan because of all the titles and the controlers.

And if u want to compare hardware. PS2 and Xbox don't differ that much.. some of the games on Xbox are smoother but that's about it.

Thats what I think too. The xbox gets you a little more detail and a better frame rate. But I dont like the controllers and the PS2 has far and away the better game selection.

Some games are better on XBox, some are better on Playstation 2.......

I have always been a Playstation supporter because in the past there has always been more games to choose from and many titles hit on Playstation before they do on XBox with most software companies catering to Sony.

However, that is supposed to change with the XBox360 as there are reports most of the major software companies will now cater to Microsoft first. This is what made me decide to go with the XBox 360, on top of the fact they now say the Playstation 3 may not even hit until 2007!

There is a 3rd party company that has a product where you can connect the PS controller to the Xbox if thats such a big deal. I love the 2nd version of the Xbox controler. The only difference in the Xbox and PS controllers is the trigger buttons vs the push buttons. I prefer trigger buttons.

I have owned all the major systems so far and hands down the Xbox looks and plays better (on the screen). To each his own in terms of what you play (games), how you play it (controllers), who you play it with (Xbox live and networking). The end result is that XBOX produces a better overall result on your screen and as technology catches up in terms of HD and such, that will become the largest factor. I expect Microsoft to eventually annihilate Sony as they do to all competitors. They will lose money with every Xbox360 (dumb name ) shipped just to kill them.
